ABOUT THE EXAM

The knowledge requirements for PGO registration as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) align closely with the minimum qualifications recommended by the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (CCPG, also known as Geoscientists Canada). For more information on the CCPG recommendations, please visit www.ccpg.ca.

Technical exams may be assigned to cover deficiencies in the knowledge requirements. The following conditions apply:

- An applicant must first undergo an official application review.
- An applicant must receive a letter from PGO advising them to take a technical exam.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I WRITE THE EXAM?

Deferred Registration: If an applicant has been deferred registration by the Registrar or Registration Committee, they will have a two-year time limit to complete the required exams.

Denied Registration: If an applicant has been denied registration by the Registrar or Registration Committee, there is no time limit or limit on the number of attempts to complete the required exams. After completing the required exams, a denied applicant will need to reapply for membership.
