TECHNICAL EXAMINATIONS
ABOUT THE EXAM
The knowledge requirements for PGO registration as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) closely match the minimum qualifications recommended by the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (CCPG, also known as Geoscientists Canada), information about the CCPG recommendations is provided on the CCPG’s website, www.ccpg.ca.
These examinations may be assigned by PGO to applicants in order to cover deficiencies in the fulfillment of the PGO minimum knowledge requirements. These are not meant to be taken unless advised to do so. If examinations are required by an applicant, they will receive a letter from PGO advising them to do so. An applicant may also fulfill deficiencies in knowledge requirements through the completion of an educational unit (EU), taken for credit, through a Canadian University, or equivalent. If an applicant is contemplating taking an exam or course, it is recommended they contact PGO to confirm the suitability of the exam or course work prior to enrollment.
Examinations are provided by PEO and APEGA.
