PGO 2025 COUNCIL ELECTION – CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

This notice serves as the official call for nominations for PGO Council positions that will become vacant on June 6, 2025, the date of our Annual General Meeting. The nomination period will run from March 13 to April 14, 2025. Online voting will be open from April 24 to May 22, 2025.

The PGO Council consists of 20 Councillors, as defined by the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000. The Council governs the activities of PGO by setting policies, directions, and expectations, monitoring progress, advising on key issues, and supporting PGO’s mandate to protect the public by regulating professional geoscientists in Ontario.

COUNCIL POSITIONS BY ELECTION

The following positions are open for election:

  • Vice President – A progressive three-year term: VP (2025-2026), President (2026-2027), Past-President (2027-2028). Candidates must have at least one year of experience on Council.
  • Three (3) Councillors-at-Large (Three-Year Term, Renewable, 2025-2028) – Candidates must reside in Ontario.
  • Three (3) Regional Councillors (Three-Year Term, Renewable, 2025-2028) – One for North West Region, One for North East Region, and One for Central Region. Candidates must reside in Ontario. Each of the Regional Councillors shall reside in the region that the person is elected to represent at the time of election and during the term of office as indicated in PGO By-Law 1A section 2.04 (c).

Only full practising, temporary, or limited PGO registrants-in-good-standing may be nominated.

Nomination forms must be received by the CEO c/o PGO by email to nominations@pgo.ca by April 14, 2025. Late nominations will not be accepted.


NOMINATION PROCESS

To be nominated for Council positions by election, each candidate must submit:

  • A signed letter of consent to be added to the slate of nominees and to serve on Council if elected, including consent to PGO’s criminal background check process.
  • A completed Council Expression of Interest form.
  • A completed and signed Nomination Form, showing the support of at least five (5) PGO registrants in good standing. A listing of registrants-in-good-standing is available in PGO’s public register at www.pgo.ca. The nomination form is appended to this notice.

Only full practising, temporary, or limited PGO registrants in good standing may be nominated.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Nomination forms must be received by the CEO of PGO via email at nominations@pgo.ca by April 14, 2025. Late nominations will not be accepted.


COUNCIL POSITIONS BY APPOINTMENT

The following positions are open for appointment:

  • Two (2) Non-Registrant Public Appointees (Three-Year Term, Renewable, 2025-2028)
  • Two (2) Lieutenant Governor-in-Council (LGIC) Appointees (Three-Year Term, Renewable, 2025-2028)
    • One (1) LGIC non-registrant appointee
    • One (1) LGIC registrant appointee

1. Their signed letter of consent to be added to the slate of nominees and to serve on Council if elected and consent to PGO’s criminal background check process, and

2. A completed Council Expression of Interest form.
