ABOUT PGO COUNCIL INVOLVEMENT

Over the history of the PGO, many of our registrants have volunteered to serve on Council. Their contributions have been invaluable in ensuring that PGO remains focused on carrying out its mandate of protecting the public. We ask that you volunteer some of your time and talent and join your colleagues in serving the public interest through PGO.

Expectations:

  • Police check clearance is a requirement.
  • Attendance at approximately 5 Council meetings per year, generally held in the Greater Toronto Area  – usually on Thursdays starting at 9 am and usually lasting for about 6 hours. Council members can participate in meetings online if necessary. Virtual access is provided.

  • Review of all relevant documents in preparation for Council Meetings (approximately 2 hours).

  • Councillors also sit on one (1) or two (2) committees as required, with additional time commitment.

  • Mandatory Attendance at orientation meetings for new and current Council Members and continuing professional development on governance and regulatory practices of self-regulatory bodies, throughout their term.

  • Term is 3 years starting in June following the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Travel and accommodation expenses for in-person meetings are reimbursed by PGO. Time spent at Council meetings can be counted as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours for those who are required to report on their CPD activities.

PGO is committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion (D&I). For further information, please visit PGO's Diversity and Inclusion page.
