Funding Opportunity for Northern Ontario Organizations to Encourage Hiring of New Graduates

The Ontario Government recently announced a funding initiative that encourages organizations in Northern Ontario to provide internship to new graduates that will eventually result to full time employment. It is called the Northern Ontario Internship Program. This is certainly a resource worth exploring as it means providing opportunities to recent graduates to earn work experience. Companies such as in the mineral and mining, water technologies and services and forestry sectors are eligible to apply for this funding. 

For our industry, we hope that this funding will encourage companies to hire Geoscientists-in-Training and recent graduates of geoscience programs. APGO has connected with the appropriate contacts from MNDM and has extended an invitation to them to attend our regional networking event in Sudbury in February 2014. This will allow members to connect directly with MNDM representatives to get more in-depth information about the program and other publicly funded initiatives.
