About the Speakers

Phyllis McCrindle, P.Geo.
Principal and Senior Hydrogeologist
WSP

Ms. Phyllis McCrindle is a Principal and Senior Hydrogeologist at WSP with 26 years of experience in the development and implementation of hydrogeological investigations and project management of multidisciplinary teams for a wide range of manufacturing, infrastructure, industrial, commercial, municipal, provincial, and federal government clients. She has an BSc (Honors) in Geology from MUN and a MSc in Hydrogeology from the University of Waterloo. She was one of the first 1000 Ontario P.Geo members and she is also licensed in Nova Scotia where she is practicing in the field of physical hydrogeology, including hydrogeological site characterization, dewatering assessments, geological, geophysical, hydrogeological assessments of overburden, bedrock structures and groundwater regimes, seepage evaluation, groundwater quality characterization, isotopic analysis, aquifer testing, water supply investigations, and hydrogeological investigations. She is a project manager and director for a wide range of clients and assignments where leadership and guidance through the project technical details and provincial and federal regulations are required. This management is multifaceted and requires an understanding of the legal contract terms, project goals, quality control, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder interests. Ms. McCrindle in the past has been a hydrogeology representative on the OSSGA Environment committee.

Claire Milloy, M.Sc., P.Geo.
Groundwater Scientist
Rideau Valley Conservation Authority

Claire is a hydrogeological geoscientist with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority in eastern Ontario, where she provides professional guidance for planning and regulatory decisions and undertakes special projects. In this role, she champions the protection of wetlands and streams and maintaining local hydrological cycles to mitigate the risks from hazardous lands within the context of a changing climate. She is also a regional expert in characterizing and protecting private drinking water supplies. Previously, Claire was a hydrogeological consultant in the Greater Toronto Area undertaking groundwater supply and contaminated site characterization and monitoring work. Throughout her career, Claire has also been very active in the broader hydrogeological geoscience community across Ontario.

Ryan Weston, M.Sc., MBA, P.Geo,
President
Weston Geoscience

Ryan Weston, President of Weston Geoscience, is a registered Professional Geoscientist with over 20 years experience in exploration for both base and precious metals internationally from the Peruvian Andes to the Canadian Superior Province to the Australian outback. Since 2016 Ryan has focussed on exploration and development of the critical mineral deposits in the Ring of Fire area where numerous base metal deposits have been discovered to date. Ryan has a passion for geology and exploration and building high-performing teams to facilitate the discovery process.

Ryan holds a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Toronto, a M.Sc. in Geology from Laurentian University and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Milan Situm, P.Geo.
VP, Engineering Services
Simcoe Geoscience

Milan characterizes the earth to any depth without getting his hands dirty. He is the principal Geophysicist involved in applications of the science to engineering problems. It is now 35 years and almost 4,000 civil works related to Bridges, Dams, Tunnels, Roads, Buildings, Rail, Pipelines, Mines and Marine works. Early in his career there were environmental and groundwater projects but after finding every UST in Ontario and most of the water supply requests the focus after 10 years was 95% engineering where hard numbers on depths, soil and rock strengths were essential, in essence all the geologic information that happens between the boreholes to give them proper perspective. The other portion of the engineering field is determining how old infrastructure was built.

Milan served Professional Geoscientists Ontario for 10 years as a councillor, including three years on the Executive Committee and a term as President (2018-2019)

Milan is currently dedicated to supporting all geophysical operators in Canada in the Near Surface Geophysics field, particularly those that work within larger engineering firms.
