Shishi Chen, Principal – Data Science, Exploration Excellence and Innovation, BHP

Shishi Chen is Principal Data Scientist at BHP’s Exploration Excellence and Innovation Data Team. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth Science from the University of Ottawa and possesses deep expertise in both geochemistry and data science. His work focuses on applying advanced machine learning techniques and multivariate analysis to enhance data-driven prospectivity mapping and mineral exploration strategies across various deposit types.

Dr. Chen has successfully demonstrated the value of data science by publishing academic papers, and delivering impactful projects and generating tangible value for his employers. He is also engaged in developing automated data science workflows, transforming complex algorithms into user-friendly tools that empower geoscientists.

Beyond his industry contributions, Shishi actively participates in academia by peer-reviewing research for leading journals and presenting at academic conferences.
