Title: Geoscience Journeys: Insights and Advice for Aspiring Professionals
Trina is a member of the Anishinaabe community of Mattagami First Nation, grew up in Northern Ontario and currently makes her home in the south. Since the late 1990s she has been helping industries and Indigenous groups connect to create strategic pathways for Indigenous peoples to enjoying meaningful careers in Canadian workplaces. Trina balances this work with her commitment to Indigenous nation building by providing professional development to employment practitioners, community leaders and administration teams in a variety of human resource and career development programs. She has had the opportunity to work with companies across a number of sectors and also spent time among First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities in every province and territory.
Trina currently volunteers for the Professional Geoscientists Ontario, the Canadian Career Development Practitioner Centre, the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling Content and Learning Committee, and the Canadian Aboriginal Human Resource Management Association. Trina is an Adult Educator via Brock University, a Master Level Trainer for a number of career coaching programs, a practitioner of the International Association of Public Participation, and an alumni of numerous leadership programs.
At home Trina enjoys her time walking by the lake, learning about the world from a 5-year-old, exploring old bookstores, and engaging in conversations with folks across her travels sharing perspectives and stories that help humanity to connect.
