Sheila Ballantyne is a structural and economic geologist experienced in hard rock mineral exploration, rock mechanics–related underground and open-pit mine design, and undergraduate earth sciences education. She is currently an earth sciences instructor at the University of Toronto and is working toward a PhD. Ms. Ballantyne is researching the structural controls of mineralization in ancient volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits under the supervision of Melissa Anderson (University of Toronto) and Meg Stewart (Mount Royal University), with support from Hudbay Minerals and the team at Snow Lake. She enjoys volunteering with mining industry organizations like the PGO, playing the fiddle, and spending time outdoors with her three young children.
