Presentation 1: Jurisdictional Professional Geoscience in Canada – Same, same, but different

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Andrea Waldie, P.Geo., FGC, CEO of Geoscientists Canada (GC) 

Andrea Waldie is CEO of Geoscientists Canada, the national umbrella organization for self-regulatory organizations licencing professional geoscientists in Canada. She enjoys speaking and collaborating nationally and internationally on matters that support excellence in geoscience professionalism. Prior to joining Geoscientists Canada she consulted on topics pertaining to professional geoscience and governance. Andrea spent over 20 years in the mineral exploration industry consulting for both major and junior mining exploration companies before joining the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO, now PGO) as the Executive Director and Registrar from 2007 through 2012. She served as the co-chair of the APGO Registration Committee from 2012 through 2017. Andrea is a director of the APGO Education Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to supporting geoscience degree students and internationally-trained geoscientist immigrants to Canada, and to enhancing the knowledge of the general public with regards to geoscience through such initiatives as the Foundation’s flagship website www.geoscienceinfo.com. She is currently the Treasurer of the Global Geoscience Professionalism Group. She holds a BSc in Earth Science from the University of Waterloo, is a registered professional geoscientist in Ontario and British Columbia, and a Fellow of Geoscientists Canada.
